How to choose
- You only need to know a few of your URLs answer. A simple pinger is enough and the free tier is hard to beat on pure cost.
- Checkout fails when a provider fails. Add independent multi-region measurement of those hosts. Watching only your homepage will not tell you which side broke.
- You need a status page customers trust under stress. Prefer a page fed by evidence that refuses a false green, not a light that stayed green because nobody updated it.

Should I drop UptimeRobot if I use StackWitness?
Not necessarily. Many teams keep a simple pinger for a handful of their own URLs and use StackWitness when the question is whether a third party is failing outside their network. Complementary tools are fine.
Is StackWitness free like a freemium pinger?
Public dependency truth pages are free to read. The paid product is for your monitors, attribution, and a status page backed by that measurement. We do not claim to match every free-tier limit of every pinger.
What does StackWitness refuse to claim?
We do not certify compliance, invent calm green during partial failure, or treat a vendor self-report as independent measurement. Reachable means our probe got an answer under our rules.
Do you include SSL certificate expiry?
Yes on Pro and Team plans: TLS expiry checks use Browser Rendering, so Free does not enable them. Independent reachability measurement still ships on Free.
